Walt Disney World is preparing a lineup of family-focused experiences, attraction updates and travel deals this summer, many debuting around the start of its Cool Kids' Summer program running May 26 through Sept. 8. The season will bring refreshed attractions, character-driven entertainment across the parks and resorts, and several promotional offers aimed at families. Disney also says the summer months will bring some of the best ticket prices of the year along with extended theme park hours.
Latest Attraction Updates:
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is scheduled to reopen April 8 at Magic Kingdom. The refreshed attraction will feature an enhanced ride vehicle and a support bot named Buddy who helps train guests with target practice before their mission. Interactive targets will react and light up when hit, and hand-held blasters will include an always-on laser with lighting, sound and vibration effects. For the first time, Disney PhotoPass will capture guests' scores and rank. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will also reopen at Magic Kingdom in early May following what Disney is calling an all-over refurbishment.
At Disney's Hollywood Studios, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will introduce a mission starring The Mandalorian and Grogu beginning May 22, timed to the release of the film. The mission involves tracking down ex-Imperial officers throughout the galaxy, and for the first time, guests will choose what planets the Millennium Falcon visits. An added gameplay feature allows engineers to communicate directly with Grogu.
Also at Hollywood Studios, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster will be reimagined with a Muppets theme featuring the band Electric Mayhem, debuting this summer. Arriving late summer, The Magic of Disney Animation will feature a "Drawn to Wonderland" playground, Disney friends in "Off the Page!" and "Olaf Draws," where guests learn to draw alongside pre-recorded guidance from Disney Animation artists.
Soarin’ Across America opens May 26 at EPCOT, showcasing the beauty of the United States from sea to shining sea in celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary. The attraction will spotlight landscapes such as the Grand Canyon along with iconic cityscapes, accompanied by a new orchestration of the classic Soarin’ musical theme.
New in Entertainment:
Several entertainment offerings will debut alongside Cool Kids' Summer on May 26, with some extending beyond the seasonal program. Bluey's Wild World at Conservation Station will bring Bluey and Bingo to Disney's Animal Kingdom beginning May 26 and continuing beyond the summer program. After riding the Wildlife Express Train to Conservation Station, guests can play games from the show's episodes, meet Bluey and Bingo, and discover animals native to Australia at "Jumping Junction."
Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! launches at Disney's Hollywood Studios, inspired by the Disney Jr. series "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+." The interactive show invites families to help Mickey and Minnie find Goofy, Daisy and Pluto through songs, dancing and audience participation. The Walt Disney Studios outdoor courtyard will also be ready for guests to explore on May 26.
Additional seasonal entertainment includes Jessie's Roundup: A Rip-Roarin' Revue at the Diamond Horseshoe in Magic Kingdom, featuring Jessie, Woody, Bullseye and other Toy Story characters in a show with songs, dance and games. At EPCOT, GoofyCore at CommuniCore Hall is a Cool Kids' Summer special with activities led by the Goof Troop, DJ Dance Pants and Goofy, including games like Goofy Says, Balloon Bonanza and Parachutes 'n' Pipsqueaks.
At the Marketplace in Disney Springs, a dance party will spotlight music from "Descendants: Wicked Wonderland" and "Camp Rock 3" on select nights, tied to original movies coming to Disney+ this summer.
Character appearances will expand to the water parks for the summer, with Goofy at Blizzard Beach and Stitch at Typhoon Lagoon. Disney H2O Glow After Hours, a separately ticketed event, returns to Typhoon Lagoon on select nights from June 2 through Sept. 5, with rare characters including Powerline Max and Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers.
Resort Perks:
During the daily 30-minute early theme park entry for Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests, character appearances will take place across all four parks throughout the summer. Guests at Disney's Pop Century Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will have access to additional family amenities, all complimentary. These include bottle warmers, infant bathtubs, diaper disposals and nightlights, as well as Disney Publishing reading libraries.
